Tank Drawing Examples
Not sure if your sketch is good enough? Here’s what we’re looking for. We put this page together to save you — and us — from unnecessary back-and-forth. If you’re uploading a drawing, make sure it looks like something on this page.
✅ Great Drawings (Ideal)
These are what we want to see. Clear top-down and end views, labeled fittings, dimensions, tank shape, and direction.
What makes these great:
-
Dimensions are called out
-
Fittings are labeled with size and type
-
Top/bottom/port/starboard marked
-
Clean handwriting or printed labels
"Perfect layout — easy to read, shows all fitting locations and orientation."

🆗 Acceptable Drawings (Will Work)
Not perfect, but fully usable. These may have some rough handwriting or hand-drawn arrows, but the info is there and it's legible.
Still acceptable if:
-
It has all required dimensions
-
Orientation is marked
-
We can clearly tell where fittings go
"A little rough but all details are here. No guessing needed."

⚠️ Borderline Drawings (Not Recommended)
These drawings squeaked through — but just barely. They lack clarity and may result in delays or questions.
Common issues:
-
Poor handwriting or light pencil
-
Missing dimensions or labels
-
Unclear arrows or layout
"Couldn’t tell which end was which. We had to reach out."

❌ Do Not Send This
If it looks like this, we’re probably not building it. Blurry photos, napkin scribbles, or unlabeled chicken scratch wastes everyone’s time.
We don't have time to decode your tank map from the back of a receipt. If you wouldn’t submit it to your boss, don’t send it to us.

Final Word
You obviously want your tank built correctly. Take the time and make a drawing that shows! Include:
-
Top-down view with labeled fittings and tank orientation
-
End view showing the shape profile
-
Dimensions on every view
We don’t need a CAD file. Pencil and paper is fine — just make it clear. If you’re even a little unsure, scroll back up and double check some of these examples.
Again, we build what you send us. We don’t guess. If the drawings are not acceptable, we will request new ones prior to starting the tank.
